I’m not big on pills, but this is the one supplement I do take! It enhances my recovery. Better recovery equals a better work out which equals a better race performance.
I am motivated by being outside and being active–whether that’s running, biking, hiking, swimming, kayaking, skiing.… I love movement and I love fresh air. I am further motivated by the feeling of physical strength that comes with this movement. I find that my physical strength leads to greater mental strength, and the two combined to a greater sense of well-being.
Long mountain bike rides or trail runs that allow time for trail explorations! I love the peace of the forest, and I love exploring new trails and old cane/jeep roads and getting to places on this island that few will or can get to. The natural beauty of Hawaii never ceases to amaze me, and I am grateful for it every day.
I did my first triathlon on a borrowed bike in Paramaribo, Suriname in 2003. We swam laps in a pool and took to the rutted streets amongst traffic, but I came in first out of five women and I was hooked! My now husband introduced me to mountain biking in 2008. Since his accident in 2009 (he was hit by a tour bus riding with me on Pineapple Hill), road biking has never been the same. I find greater peace and more fun on the trials. I am grateful John taught me how to mountain bike and grateful for his continued coaching and racing support.
